A and B could be either floppy. You could have 2 5 1/4's or 2 3.5's or one of each. Used to have a combo drive had both in a 5.25 inch slot.

120 mb? That's almost the size of my mp3 player.

Yeah it was only a few years ago but they made a 3.5 inch drive that could read old floppys and SuperDisk's which could store 120mb. It was designed to compete with ZiP Drives only mad late.

Drive could also format regular floppys to hold more then normal but they could only be read on superdrives.

The very first PC (IBM 5150) didn't come with a hard drive. It had two floppy drives.
It ran MS-DOS, which as you may know is the predecessor to Windows.
It had two drive letters: A for the 1st floppy, B for the 2nd.
When hard drives for PCs came out (with the XT and "Expansion chassis") they became letter C.

Letter C was always assigned to the disk you booted from. Now this is not always the case. Any letter after C was left unassigned: it could be ANYTHING. Some people even had a 3rd floppy back then: it was assigned off the top of the pool. Normally, letters are assigned based on which was plugged into the PC first (yes, that's a simplification.)

Therefore, there is no clear cut order that letters are assigned in other than "C". You can change them in Disk Management. They normally shouldn't be, though, because software is normally hard coded to look at a certain path for media.
