First of all this isn't a debate, this is for my personal use, not an overall opinion of it.

Well hey guys, it's Bewood. Well I got my hands on a Windows XP SP3, and I currently have vista on my new computer.

The problem is, I really can't decide. And here are the pros and cons I've heard of so far:

    XP:
Pros- Hackable, crackable, less blocks, less programs running in the back, overall so much more you can do.
Cons- I've heard that newer games and software will only be vista compatible, and that somethings may even update to vista only, therefore me losing compatibility.

    Vista:
Pros- Good protection, safe from most things, most things that will supposedly be vista only will be allowed.
Cons- Not hackable/crackable, more programs running in the background therefore slowing it down, and some games run slow on it.

So I really want to stick with vista, but I'd also like some hardcore opinions of XP, and some convincing because secretly I hate vista, and I have less then 2 days to decide this, actually 1 day and 12 hours. So please help me out.

EDIT: Some, SOME, things are hackable/crackable on vista. But not all.

I think you should put an emulator for the opposite one ex: xp emu on vista and vista emu on xp since you own both i think its legal

woo i say stick with xp
since im never in risk with viruses ^_^
but then again.. in a couple of years updates for xp will end and the world of vista will reign over xp..

They're not called emulators when it comes to OS it's a virtual machine.
VMware is my preferred program for running windows inside windows.

As far as you running XP or Vista it depends on what you use your comp for.
Regardless though if you stick with Microsoft Vista is the future and you will eventually have to run it anyways...how many people you know still run windows 2000 effciently with newer programs?thought so...

My Gateway laptop came with Vista and I've been suprised how much I dont hate it...of course it has 3gb of Ram so even a bloated version of Vista will run fine.
If it's working for you now why switch back? Are you sure all the drivers are available in XP? Most computers that came out this year with Vista installed do not have available drivers for XP.

vista has a couple cracks that allow you to use it as long as you want. hell, you get 90 days to use it without paying for it.

depends on your hardware and what software you are using. if you are using some old school software, check compatibility issues. if this is your first computer, get a vista for dx10. i have xp, but im planning on moving over to vista because i really wanna play crysis on dx10 very high quaity settings

Hands down, my opinion, use XP right now. I dual it with Ubuntu Linux. Linux for a change, and XP for my games and such. I figure, go Vista later, when there is more compatibility and such.

I'm on XP, but mainly because I like the simplicity of XP; but Vista is still great, I like both the same.
