    ok, straight to the point.
i have tried these three ways to d/c the flashdrive:
    1. i go to the little "safely remove hardware" icon at start menu bar(w/e its called) and open it, selected the flash drive, and clicked "stop". sounds like i did it right but all it does is just freeze on that. i left it alone for about 30min and was still there ={
    2. i went to my computer right clicked on the drive and clicked "eject". it says something about data loss and how i should close anything running from the flashdrive (but there is nothing running!!!!). theres nothing else to do but click "ok" and it exits....
    3. when those failed i just plainly pulled the muT#aFck3R out.

now when i did number 3.. the icon for the flashdrive was still in my computer.. even with the flashdrive off its still there.. and you might ask "so? whats the problem?", the problem is while my computer THINKS its still hooked on and i connect anything else (say my psp/ipod) it wont SHOW UP.
i have to restart the pc so itll come off which is becoming a real pain -_-
is there a fix to the flashdrive or should i kill it and buy a new one??!?
(sorry for making you read so much =P)

    Type of flash drive?

you can try to back up all your files on your computer format your memory stick uninstall it on your computer and then start brand new
something a lil less drastic to maybe fix your issue then buying new computer or flash :P

Can you access the flash drive as its in?
If you can you can media fire all data under 100mb or another file hosting it should let you do this since your not actually moving the data around. It may or may not work if it does work you can save your money
But if you do buy a new flash i hope you wouldnt mind if i made a few suggestions....

i found some cheap 4gb ones off tigerdirect.com
Sandisk 4GB Cruzer Titanium Plus USB Flash Drive SDCZ28004GA11 at TigerDirect.com
this one is a sandisk cruzer 4gb titanium plus USB
I have a 2gb its great flash drive and its horrificly cheap only problem ive ever had with sandisk is that sometimes the drive doesnt go all the way back inside its casing but ive had this thing since i was a freshmen in highschool so its just basic overusing it

    Transcend JetFlash™ 4GB USB flash drive TS4GJFV30 at TigerDirect.com
never used this one but for its dirt cheap price and its good review it would be a nice test out.

i am a fan of the sandisk brand its a great usb makers
