Well i had my psp for a few years now and this is the first weird thing my psp has done. Here's what happened:

Listening to music on my psp. I lost the battery cover a while back. Anyways while i'm listening to it the battery falls out. I place it back in and the system won't turn on. I'm hoping that it's not fried or anything.

well there's my problem.Any insight will be greatly appreciated.

You probably damaged the internals of your battery - get a new battery

Buy a new batt cover. With the phats, you have to have the battery in the correct position because the battery is slightly smaller than the compartment where it is inserted. When you have a battery cover, it fixes the difference and holds it in place.

If all else fails, buy a battery cover and new battery.

    Buy Pandora's from here

Yeah, the new battery cover sounds right... Before my son dropped it into the tub, he had dropped it on the ground a few times (ok, so did I!), and for some reason, my battery cover didn't sit on there properly anymore (could it have been from repeated shock?). Oftentimes, if I set it down, it would reset itself. Anyway, if you can't get a new battery cover, get some black electrical tape! That shit will fix anything that duct tape doesn't!
