Microsoft is about to release Windows XP 64-bit and has put into place an upgrade program for current Windows XP users, should we take the plunge or not? Anyone have any info on this?

Unless you have a 64 bit processor do not install this!!!!!!!! And if you do, then wait.
Man, we've come a long way since Pong and tape drives. I was there in 80 and all I got was this videogame addiction!

But most video cards wont support it, like mine. I love Windows 2000, if I was to get anything else it will be a Mac.

The only 64-bit CPU's on the market right now are AMD 64-Bit, Intel Xeon CPUs and Apple G5 CPU's. Intel will probably make the P4 a 64-bit processor until the end of the year

It'll utilize the speed of a 64-bit processor, so everythign will go smoother, applications that can take advantage of 64-bit WILL take advantage of it and go much faster. Can't think of anythign else, you'll probably only need 64-bit for like video processing or gaming.

i can remember a name but i know intel makes a non xeon 64bit. but id wait for longhorn for a 64 bit operating system, because some programs wont run on 64 bit windows.

Amd has the Athalon X2. those are also 64 bit and pentium has a dual core processor that is 64 bit. yeah but u definately can't use the 64 bit windows without a 64 bit processor if your interested www.tigerdirect.com has the pentiums at 2.8 ghz in the $200 -$ 300 range and they go up from there
