My iPod touch is getting a bit slow for my liking and 8GB just isn't enough. Since it's jailbroken, i could probably get 300NZD for it and get a 16GB Product (RED) nano w/ camera for $318.
Or attempt to get the 3rd gen iTouch, considering it has twice the RAM of the 2nd?

    Good idea?

And do the Click Wheel games work on the 5th gen nano? Doesn't say so on iTunes..

if you like your apps then going from touch to nano is gonna suck for you, I would sell it and just try to get a better touch.

I had the same exact dillema, ended up picking up an iPhone 2G from a friend for $60, 8GB. I used to feel the same, "I have to have ALL my music with me at all times". When you learn to limit yourself, it really helps. Yeah, also I'd say get the iTouch, or wait for the next gen iTouch to come out because for sure it's coming out with a camera.

    1. Alot easier said than done. It's so hard to organize music in iTunes, so i just sync the lot. Dad just has a single playlist w/ just his music so he doesn't have my stuff, but that gets annoying to do.

    2. That's exactly what i want, but it'll make an 8GB one another 70NZD more expensive.

I'll probably wait for the 4th gen if it's jailbreakable.

I'm probably the anti-apple nut here, but just have to say it - Why the hell do you want an ipod? Another one for that matter? They're tiny as hell, exhorbidantly expensive, quite easily breakable, and will invariably send you towards itunes (as you already mentioned). Do you like the app store? Do you like paying the apple tax? Or do you just enjoy the sound of audio of inferior quality?

You probably won't take my advice, but think about investing in a GOOD set of headphones - not those POS earbuds, especially the ones that apple bundles. For $20 (USD), go grab a pair of sony MDR-100's or -150's...They're the lowest end when it comes to "quality," but plug them into your PSP and they'll blow your ipod out of the water.

...Look into an old iriver or even a sandisk sansa if you're looking to upgrade. As long as you switch AWAY from the ipod, it'll be considered an upgrade. Hell, you might even be a trendsetter. I personally stick with my old minidisc player - it ain't "sleek" or "cool," but in the 7 years I've had it I've yet to find an mp3 player that can hold a candle to it when it comes to clarity and fidelity...
If you see me running, try to keep up.

    1. iPods = win.

    2. Not necessarily breakable. I've dropped my Touch on concrete countless times and it's perfect.

    3. App Store is also win if your smart enough. *cough* crackedapps *cough*

    4. The quality of the sounds depends on the music you sync. I always has 320kbps, that's why i need a bigger capacity.

    5. PSP is pure shit for a music player period.

    6. My Apple Earphones w/ Remote + Mic are perfectly fine thanks.

    7. Naw, iPods all teh way. Trendsetter? I'm the one who brought the iPod touch to my school, everyone's getting one now.

Now if you'd let me continue, i'll buy my 500NZD 4th gen iTouch w/ a camera.

...In that case, carry on... Arguing with the insane is generally a futile proposition anyway. I will, however, reiterate the FACT that if you want to listen to something that sounds good, steer clear of the ipod. Bitrate don't matter for shit if the hardware can't push it to begin with. The fact that you find your earbuds to be of even acceptable quality is evidence enough that the ipod's the only portable you've ever listened to.

...Now, you do happen to be a mod, so I don't think I'll antagonize you any further today. Either way, I've probably used/destroyed/rebuilt more systems since you were born than you'll ever see in your lifetime. Never hurts to take the free advice when it's handed to you on a silver platter...

    2. Meh, go for it, everyone has their own opinions.

    3. More than likely.
