My computer keeps randomly rebooting and at the bios screen, it shows NONE for my harddrive. Following that, I get a black screen with a 'DISK BOOT FAILURE' error message and have to reboot again.

I seriously think it's my harddrive failing on me, so if the problem gets worse, I might not be online for a while. Just a heads up so that you guys don't think I died or something. :P

Its ok, it is probably your hardware, like you stated. If you could, could you post your specs?

Yeah, it really does sound like your hard drive's done for. It shouldn't cost too much to replace it (unless you plan to get a new computer).

Laptops are very nice! I've only found two problems with them. If something goes wrong with the hardware, then it's not easy to fix. You usually have to take it somewhere or send it back to the company. And the second problem is that they're far less upgradeable than desktop PCs.

Eh, I won't be getting a new computer, more than likely, especially since I'm getting a PS3 next year.

Actually, it might not be the harddrive going bad. I shifted the HD around where it's mounted, and it's not given me any problems at all since yesterday evening. It was on all night long, even.

Could it possibly be that it's just loosely mounted or something?

I guess it's possible. Check all the connections. If it works, then it works. :)
And you might want to try these tools to check the SMART health status of your hard drive...

    HDD Health

    HD Tune

Alright, I downloaded them both and I'm running the HD Tune scan right now. So far, 60 MB is showing as damaged. Would that be significant enough to cause the Disk Boot Errors, you think?

In a detailed scan? How many blocks is that? 6? And is that with or without quick scan? Quick scan takes less than 5 minutes, while the detailed scan will probably take 30 minutes or longer.
Check your hard drive's S.M.A.R.T. health status in HDD Health. It tracks the information better, but doesn't offer an error scan, which is why you should try both programs.

It was 4 blocks in the Detailed Scan. It took I think about 44 minutes to completely scan.

On the HDD Health, it says that S.M.A.R.T. is disabled, I'm not quite sure how to enable it.

You can enable it in your computer's BIOS.
