Does the VAT go both ways, or only on imports to the UK? I've bought quite a bit of stuff from great britain, Royal Mail to the US is relatively cheap and faster than you'd expect for the equivalent of "ground" shipping... Even had a couple of people (severely) misrepresent the value of the items, though I'd imagine you'd be in for a world of shit if they actually checked it.

It goes by weight, and what he is selling will be pretty heavy. Obviously he would add the postage on to the auction, but who is going to spend £10+ extra on shipping when you can just get one in the US without the large shipping cost?

By the way Cage, let me know how much ebay+paypal take in fees. I'm thinking of putting mine up on ebay, but not if they rape me with the fees

By weight? I was always under the assumption that the VAT was based on value... Though weight overseas is a totally different thing... I wasn't implying that opening it to the US would be better, simply that shipping is not quite as bad as he implied - expensive, yes, but not to the point of being totally unreasonable.

...Besides, he did the buyer a favor - at ~$150 USD, I'd call that reasonable in the US, and damn good deal in the UK - You guys pay almost double what we do for this sort of stuff...
