Yes. Definitely. Although I would say don't get Vista or at least don't get the 64-bit edition. Things are just way too incompatible.

I'm glad you added the 64bit comment because vista 32bit is fine... I only use it on this laptop because it came with it but I got this laptop a long time ago... Never had any problems with vista whatsoever...

For gaming 64bit is only way to go and it's just there till win 7 64bit comes out

64bit is just a beast when it comes to speed and when on a good computer vista will never bother you lol

And xp 64bit is far far worse than vista 64bit the XP one was just them trying to incorporate it

Trust me 32bit won't last to much longer windows is just milking it for money

i mean 32 lanes vs 64 lanes... do i even need to argue which is better?

W7 exists, you know?

Edit: How would 64bit effect him "and make it more complicated" in anyway? 64 is a much more efficient OS than 32, making use and caches the RAM and handles process management at a much more efficient pace than 32.

Edit: doesn't make much of a difference even if he uses 64 bit for gaming or not.

Yes it does!
it's simple 32bit does not allow more than 3.5GB ram and 786MB GFX ram..

and WTF does your case, psu, monitor & CD drive have to do with perfomance.. your just looking for a way to brag.

No, it doesn't. I've seen 4gb on XP 32bit and my theoretical 280M displays properly that it has 2048mb VRAM.

64 handles processing better than 32.

Yes, everything you said is correct. All I have to add is that 32 has better compatibility than 64-bit. Yes, it can run most apps fine, but occasionally you'll run into a problem. Compatibility > Speed. But, if you are only asking about this game and people say it runs, then go ahead. But lemme tell you, if you're using Oblivion as a basis for building a powerful computer, you're a couple of years behind. The parts you have will run current-gen games just fine though.

XP 64 was poor for compatibilty, Vista was to start with (as was the 32-Bit), but now both Vista 64-Bit and 7 64 Bit are near perfect compatible.

I've been running the x64 version of the Windows 7 RC for about a month and a half now, and not had one 64-bit related problem that i couldn't sort.

Oh and yes, a 4890 will easily run most games at 1920x1080 with full AA. Although i said it in another thread, don't bother with a 16:9 monitor, you're losing gaming resolution for the purpose of being able to call it HD ready.

Aside from ventilation, a case serves no other purpose than to hold all of the internal parts of the machine together and to be aesthetically pleasing. Please, if you know a secret, don't hesitate to share.
