What program do you reccomend and why?
I use, right now, Bitdefender Total Security 2009. I think its great, it picks up virus's really quickly (limewire experience...) but it contains 2 exe files which sometimes, about 1/20 slows down the computer for 5 mins.

avg free, dont use norton cos if u install that u wont get rid of it and it doesnt like other anti viruses

You can get rid of it, use Revo Uninstaller, rips any software out my its pants.

And it does have a nice long record of being as violent to other software as software can be.

But the best part! is that it comes on MOST computers pre installed with their 90? day trial, and after your 90 days it nags, nags, nags, nags, and nags at you to buy it!

Exactly, I ment as in there's still traces of norton when u do uninstall it

f-secure for me, its great, havent had any problems with viruses since ive been using it (in 5 years)
