Not Enough Memory For The Internet!!???
Some sites on the internet simply aren't able to be rendered in the PSP's NetFront web browser. It's a matter of the pages being extremely loaded down with images and other memory-intensive elements. There's no getting around it. This isn't a problem for the monster gaming rig you're browsing the internet on right now because, simply put, it has the resources. Try hooking up an old Windows 98 box with up to a 333 MHz processor and 32-64 MB of RAM and browsing some of the more popular sites of today, you'll find that many of them are extremely sluggish if they work at all. The memory won't outright run dry because of the swapfile, but that's not something that can be implemented on a handheld platform like the PSP.
And to claim that there are game shops that will expand your PSP's RAM is ludicrous. When you open up your PSP you aren't going to find a convenient slot where you can add in more RAM because that slot does not exist. Furthermore, it is not a simple matter of removing what's already there and soldering in a new chip. Everything in the PSP is proprietary, manufactured by Sony for the PSP and the PSP alone. You can't even interchange parts between a fat and slim model PSP and expect both to work afterward.
As a footnote, does anyone know if the NetFront browser uses the full 64 MB of RAM when run on the Slim model? |

tets explained it the best |

MEMORY STICKS DON'T MATTER. Why are there so many noobs in this thread trying to help people when they don't even know anything? Where are all of my members that have been here for more than a month? At least Tets knows what he's talking about.
Jesus christ people, the PSP has at most 64MB of memory. That's basically your answer. You can't do shit with 64MB of memory except check your email. All of you people talking about memory sticks, you guys need to learn the difference between RAM and flash/hard drives. |

I mean, I agree that it is like trying to use a pent 166mmx with win98 or something but, It is probably that you need to remod with a different cfw file. I bet that will fix it. big PITA but hey, nothings perfect. Also is it the fat or slim? Supposedly the slim has a lot more int memory. |

TestNtune, I don't understand what you're getting at. What do you mean by "remod with a different cfw file"?
Regardless, the original fat model has 32 MB each of RAM and internal flash for firmware storage, slim has 64 MB. Additionally I think both RAM and internal flash memory are on the same chip. As far as I'm aware, the additional RAM the slim has at its disposal is only used for UMD caching (outside of homebrew code, obviously). I may be wrong though.
Just remember people, there's a world of difference between random access memory and flash memory. Flash memory is far too slow to be used as a supplement for RAM. This means the size of your memory stick has absolutely NO IMPACT AT ALL on the performance of the web browser. The "run out of memory" message is triggered when the meager 32-64 MB of RAM is used up, not whatever amount of space you have on your memory stick. |

Is it not possible they have messed up some default setting or had a corrupt cfw when downloaded? Either way, in these cases, remodding or using the pandora with mmc (with redownloaded cfw) would set things straight. Right? |

Theres a difference between the internal memory on the PSP, and a memory card. The error message given to you originates from the fact that the PSP only has 32 (64 on the Slim) megabytes of INTERNAL MEMORY. Doesn't matter how big your memory stick is. 32Mbs, 1GB, 2, 1TB, it will always give you that error, again, because of the INTERNAL MEMORY. And no, to the person whos saying that a shop will add more memory...they probably gyped you off. Probably increased storage capacity by selling you an over-priced memory stick, but NO WAY IN HELL can the open up your PSP, and simply add more memory. If it was that simple, I've would've loaded Windows XP on my PSP, be on a porn site watching an hour long clip, that happens to be HD. And even then I doubt the measly 333MHz of raw power that the CPU on the PSP offers will do me any good.... So to put an end to this madness; It is more 'hardware/software' limitation. This could be fixed, but alas, no one neither seems interested on such a persuit, nor would they spend countless hours trying to fix this. Surfing the net on your PSP is almost like surfing the net on a cellphone. |

Any possibilities of a homebrew application routing to the mem stick as opposed to the internal memory? |
