Unhappy D-Link router / Questions to me from DLink?

Hope someone can help!

I've been trying to connect to my D-Link router for ages and basicvally have hit a brick wall every time. It seems that I had to pick a router that is known to have problems connecting to PSP etc!!!

Anyway I emailed D-Link support and got the following message:

To solve your problem you need to open ports for the PSP on the DSL-G604T. To know the port numbers kindly contact the PSP support and get the ports numbers. Even assign a static IP address on the PSP in the same range of the DSL-G604T router's IP address. The IP address of the DSL-G604T is 192.168.1.1. Kindly do the following steps and revert back to us.

Can anyone help please I haven't got a scooby?!

do you know how to get onto your routers page? If so, change the wireless mode to mixed - this worked for me - and in the psp, just do easy settings

I had to do the same thing. I don't remember which, but I think the psp can pnly run off one wireless signal, like A or G... something like that anyways. When I had first tried to connect, think my router was set up for G, I couldn't connect me psp. When I changed the settings on the router to pump out both A and G it worked great

On the router page, you should have a tab for your wireless settings.
In there you should be able to find where the modes are
A
G
Both
Mixed
usually shit like that. Just change it to Mixed or both

I have this router and I didn't need to change anything for my PSP to work :-S

Im not at home right now to connect to the router config and help you find what you're looking for but I just wanted to know what kind of problem you have hit because like I said, I have this router and mine just worked, make sure on the PSP you use 'easy' connection and everything else automatic (except the WEP key obviously) lol

Hey, the reason you have to do that is because wi-fi internet is an IEEE (An organization that regulates communicatiopn protocols, such as TCP/IP, which is your IP address and the way data is transmitted to your computer.) standard. It is 802.11. Depending on what router you have, it runs on a frequency of about 2.4mHz (I think that is the abbreviation for megahertz). Now, there are four types of wireless technology available to the public right now. 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g, 802.11n. Wireless N is still under development and not widely used, but it broadcasts a range of about fourteen times greater then 802.11g. you can pick up a n signal from about 250 meters away. Anyways, the probable reason that your PSP isn't working is that you have a 802.11a wireless router. 802.11a is its own type of wireless. It is not compatible with b/g/n. The reason you would have to put it on mixed is that you bought a combination ISR (Integrated Services Router, meaning it is a DHCP server, firewall, and administrator) that supports 802.11a as well as other types like b/g/n. Hopefully I helped. Sorry for the long post, but I am in a networking class and I kind of want to show my teacher that I know my stuff so I can go to a vocational school competition known as Skills USA. Look on the box. If it says wireless a, you might as well go buy another one because you're not going to be able to connect. Go get yourself a linksys 802.11n router.

Sincerely,
Shawn

EDIT: For the poster above me, you have a d-link router, and they all have the same GUI (Graphic User Interface). He may have a combination router that is automatically set to 802.11a.

I got a D-link router, HATE IT! when I get money I buy an Airport extreme

D-link is for me and many other, just crap! they took parts that no one needed, put it all together and there you get your D-link, parts that are leftovers from other companies

Default D-Link router / Questions to me from DLink?

Hey there,

I have a D-Link router and can connect to it just fine with my PSP, It wouldnt however let me grab an IP automatically, I had to set it to give an IP to my PSPs mac address. First thing is first, on the left hand side click the Wireless tab (hopefully your router page is the same as mine). Here is where you set it to "mixed", its actually just an option that is either enabled or disabled that says "802.11g Only" you want it disabled. Once saving that, click on the DHCP tab on the left. From there, you should see Static DHCP, select the Enabled option, and set the last number of the IP (can be whatever you want up to 255, i used a random number, like 159). Now you will need your PSPs Mac Address which is found under the system information, put that information in. and hit apply. This will make it so that everytime you connect to the router your PSP will have the same address and your router wont have to randomly assign one, It will recognize which one to give out.

Hope this helps man,
GL

Edit: I see that your page is slightly different than mine, but the DHCP part of it should be the same, just look for the static portion.
