Smile External Wi-fi

Right.

Going to make this really easy for a lot of people to try, though don't blame me for the hole you'll have left in the back when you are finished

Don't worry about taking the whole PSP to bits. I've done that in order to do this mod and have been left with 2 spare screws ?? (not sure where they came from but hey it still works so let's not worry about them)

So back to it.

Where I've butchered.... I mean carefullly cut a very nice hole in the back to suit the pigtail arial is where I recommend going in.

Now this is where you have to be very careful!!.

You see most of the back of the PSP near this area is just the plastic shell. If you were to use a small (and I mean 3-5mm) hole cutter you could could put a hole over the arial connection point and be able to unplug the existing arial and put the new external one in its place.

I know what I said earlier in the thread about finding a better hole to go through but there ain't one.

So now you stuck this huge, I mean small hole in the back, what to do to fill it up.

Well I'm working on that one. I've got a supplier looking at making a screw in plug to fit in the hole with an opening to suit the pigtail. Not going bad so far but it's not his usual work so I'm going to have to wait for him.

Once this is sorted I hope to be able to give a shopping list of parts needed. The plug is likely to be peanuts though let's see what happens first.

Will keep you all posted.

oh. nearly forgot. I'm making custom skins for the PSP. Better quality than the ones I've had and a damn site better looking. Price is going to be about £15 which I know is dearer than the cheap stuff but price for quality. Interested? (best start a new thread with that one.)
