hey im trying to get on the internet at my school because they have a wireless network,, however it has a wep-key, i knw there are ways of hacking it and getting through but one of my friends has an iphone and was able to get on without hacking the wep key, anyone got any advice |

If their PCs are equipped with network adapter cards you can use aircrack with that too.

schools dont use wep keys, can u actualy input a wepkey? cos in my old school it was just proxy bypasses, it came up as a wep encryption tho, psp couldnt handle it | |

Mine also uses a WEP key. Never bothered cracking, my homeroom is too far away to get a stable connection.

My school uses a wep key also.
Ive tried everything from "education" and "the schools name" to "education sucks" but nothing.
They never used to have a wep key until people from outside the school started looking at "inappropriate sites"...
I dont know if id like to crack it though, it is illegal and if the school caught you....

why would u want to connect your psp to the macbook air?
on the plus side... there are programs you can run to crack the wep key... becuase wep is prone to cracking and takes less time that a wpa, i believe you can crack one in the matter of under an hour...
you do need aircrack tho

Aircrack is sometimes unreliable to me. It tends to give me the same prefix error over and over again on my laptop.
I highly doubt it's possible but I was wondering if it was possible to crack a WEP key without a wireless network adapter card. My old Windows 95-made-Linux does not have a wireless network adapter card on it and I want to try to crack the WEP with it. Anyone know if its possible?

No, you need a wifi card, ant it needs to be supported by aircrack-ng and you need to then patch you wifi driver to be able to switch into monitoring mode, then you can do an injection test to make sure its all set up right, then you can crack the wep.
Its really not that difficult, especially if your using ubuntu or some other debian based distro and youve got a athros chipset.
