Question Webcam on pc & use psp as babymonitor

I have a PC with a usb webcam plugged into it and the cable is long enough to put in the nursery. I also have a wireless router.
Does anybody know how to get the live feed sent from the webcam through the router to my psp where i can watch it live. Obviously I'm not wanting to host a public webpage but rather keep everything internal.

Thanks,

Sadman

I was thinking that somehow you could use the feed from the cam and transport it through something like pimpstreamer which then broadcasts to the psp.
however I'm not that technically minded to make it work but it seems like the pieces are there. but......

Yeah, I think that would be too much memory for the PSP...but don't quote me on it.

What if you used portable vnc on the PSP to view the webcam through another computer in the house.

Thinking on a bit further.

Have the camera linked to a computer (doesn't need to be directly, can still be wireless), then using some software like active webcam, share the camera through the internet.

Then all you'd need to do is access the web address.

I've got the camera, computer and the software. Let's give it a try and see.

Thanks for your suggestions.
1) Installed Active cam > took a while to get it to recognise my webcam but it did finally after making the logitech software recognise the camera again then re-open active cam.

2) Using the http settings I selected a port and then opened that port on my router.
3) Active cam creates a webpage on myip address and : port number
4) In my psp I went to myip : port number.
By clicking refresh I can see updated screen shots there is also an option to see screenshots constantly updated but that gets tiresome as really I want a live feed not a refresh with no sound.

In windows media player it plays the webcam at hxxp://myiport/STREAM?NAME=1

I've been playing about with the vlc media player and the plugin from jocky and I think it's almost there but it just wont work which is annoying.

In the psp web browser I can get the stream however it wants to save it as a file rather than actually open it.

I'm a bit out of ideas at this point, but I'm even thinking about saving the feed (about 10 secs worth) as a separate file using the scheduler in active camera, then getting my psp to play all the files concurrently somehow whilst I have a vbscript in windows which deletes any file say older than 1 minute and renames any current files as video1, video2, ...up to video6, then re-looping the saved names as these will be part of a playlist on the psp using pimpstreamer or something along those lines.

Folks any ideas?

Sorry to take so long coming back with an answer.

Had a little problem with me security on my wireless router which meant I wasn't able to share the connection outside the house.

This is all sorted now.

I had the similar problem in streaming.
Tried another route of sharing the camera through web server but chose the (show still image) option with a 2 frames/ sec refresh rate.
Not ideal since you have to do a refresh to see the image change.

getting there. only slowly at the moment.

keep you posted
