Another reason why your psp may not connect could be due to the bandwith limit. If you have other computers in your house using the internet it takes up bandwith and will make the router signal weak. Or maybe you should get highspeed internet like everyone else.

A router will not have a bandwidth or signal decrease because of the load. The only thing that will affect the signal is proximity (distance from the router in simple terms you can understand obviously), and materials between the router and PC such as concrete, steel (mesh is the worst, that's why they use mesh in microwaves, to keep the microwaves from getting to the person).
Maybe you could just ask what kind of internet I have and maybe my experience with networks before you show everyone how stupid of a comment you can make.
Comcast Cable
Linksys 4 port router (A,B,G)
PSP that's a metre from it receives 100% signal strength everytime
PSP that has version 5.something (repeat) downloaded from SONY's PSP site
Router settings unchanged actually I removed the 128bit WEP from it. All filtering is off.
I came here to learn more because people here should know more about a PSP than I do (which is next to nothing).
