getting online problems and questions
Hey everyone, so rather then bring an old thread back to life i thought it would be smarter to just post a new one... not to sure if thats smart or not though...
I have a PSP 1001 with CFW 5.00 M33-6, I just bought Monster hunter Freedom Unite, and id like to get online to play with some friend who are out of the city due to school, but i don't own a PS3 or have a Playstation network account sadly. I've been reading around other threads to see what to do but i'm not really all that Tech Savvy when it comes to this sort of stuff.
Any help would be appreciative and some step by step instructions too >.<
Thanks alot everyone and sorry if this thread has already been posted and i just didn't look hard enough. |

1st off, to create a psn account, go to the playstation network icon on your psp's main screen (all the way to the right)...then register, very easy.
now, to play online with your psp, you MUST update your software to 5.50genB and then you're good to go!
*you must update to 5.50genA 1st, let it run and install and then restart. then do to the quick updater to 5.50genB*
last step, go enjoy your online gaming!!
here's all that you need to update: » PSP Custom Firmware 5.50 GEN-B Released PSP Hacks · PSP Homebrew, PSP Downloads, PSP Custom Firmware |

only risk of getting bricked is if you try to quick update to genB ahead of installing genA
differences are you can play online, some newer games that 5.00m33 can't...most homebrews and emulators work but some may not, not sure what else you use your psp for, but generally it all works |

I read that you needed a PS3 to play MHFU online then was that just mis information? or would the PN account fix that error, i use my PSP for gaming mainly i live in one city but work in a different one so im kind of changing scenery every couple of days and I do sadly have 3 ISO's on my PSP but they are of games that came out when the PSP was first produced and according to EB Games the games are Discontinued, and i can never find them at either city spend my days in, used or brand new.... |

You can't play MH with infrastructure. The person has to be right there with you since it can only be played in Ad-Hoc. BUT... there's x-link kai. XLink Kai: Evolution VII. Global Network Gaming.
Just go to the site, at the top is its FAQ. Read through what it is, and how to do it. With that software and the specified wireless adapter/router you can play Ad-Hoc games over the internets. |

No there is no risk with that. You don't even need cfw for that. You don't flash anything or do anything to your PSP. Just take a look at the FAQ. It explains EVERYTHING. |

Originally Posted by osonyer1 By that do you mean my 5.00 M33-6 sucks? or the other one GenB thing? | he's probably referring to genb, there's a lot of haters for this firmware...but if you're just looking to play iso back ups, online play, most homebrews, then it's perfectly fine...i'm running, i was on 5.00m33-6 and i only missed being able to play my emulators but i just recently fixed all those on this cfw so i have no complaints...it runs all my stuff that i use, plus i love playing online
so depending on what your needs/wants are out of your psp, you need to decide which cfw you want to run...playing iso's/games and online only, update to 5.50genb |
