It's called infastructure mode. You can play the Ad-hoc mode with people that are around you (close enough that you do not need a router) or you could use infastructure mode, whick requires a wireless router to connect to to connect to players all over the world.

yea but I used infractured mode but nobody is ever on multi player on my games. I even have a connection established in my home connected to my router but nobody is ever on infracture mode. Do you have to go to a hotspot to do this?? |

the psp and ds both run on 802.11 b/g routers so, there could be a couple of things wrong here. One is, no one could be on in the game of your choice, no people, no game. Another is to make sure that the game you are using is infrastructure. The last one I can think of is that there is an uncertainty on the printing of game boxes, personally, I have seen boxes of the same game at a local EB and seen that they have different multiplayer modes written on the back.

most games aren't supporting infrastructure yet...actually i don't think any are. Thats why we use Xlink Kai.
Supposedly with the same PS3 internet system they are developing will be used with the PSP and PS2. (all unofficial)
